Gracefully Simple-October 2014
The fullness of fall is upon us, and it is exciting!
One of the things that CRU loves to do in October is host a run called the Aruna 5k. Aruna is a Hindi word meaning “bright morning sun”. It is also the name of a Christian organization in Southeast Asia who are helping women find a way out of the sex trade by giving them and education and basic skills, in order to find other work.
My freshman year of college, I had a special opportunity to go to Southeast Asia and meet some of the women who are involved in the sex trade, and are being educated and poured into by the Aruna project. It was truly a humbling experience.
Now it is a joy to host this 5k in honor of these women and to raise money and awareness to free them from the sex trade. Every penny that Cru makes from the Aruna 5k goes straight to the Aruna Project.
This year we had over 200 runners and raised over $8,000!! It is cool to see so many college students get behind something and go all out for it. Looking forward to next year!
Thank you for your continued prayer and support!
Much Love and God Bless,
-- For the women who are stuck in the sex trade around the world. That they would learn of the love and the hope of our Redeemer, and that they would be able to be freed from slavery.
-- For the Aruna Project. That the Lord would have His hand in that organization and that the women would respond well to their teaching.
-- For the Gospel of Christ to go forward.
If you have any prayer requests please send them my way at firstname.lastname@example.org.
