1.7.15

Happy 2015! Welcome to the 2nd Semester! As I have reflected on a few things over the past few weeks, it made me thankful to be part of the best school on the planet. Sometimes a school is best because of things not reflected in a test score, on paper, or on a scoreboard. And these very things are often what last the longest and count the most. Here are a few examples that come to mind...

*Basketball Team bringing the elementary students over to play with them, autograph basketballs, and just invest in our younger Eagles, *Football team participating in 5K to help raise money for toys for children at Christmas, *member of Baseball team apologizing to teacher on behalf of another team member's behavior - "He's one of us and his actions are a reflection of our team...", *overall class displayed by our athletes on and off the field and court  *Ag Department and FFA building shooting houses for hunters with disabilities, *Entire student body collecting over 500 cans for Lawrence County Dream Center and under a student's leadership and direction for the entire project, *New 9th Grade student sitting by himself at lunchroom table and not 2 minutes later a group of 9th Graders come over to start talking to him and invite him to their table, *Conferencing with students about discipline and they say without attitude or issues "I'm sorry about that Mr. Tate...", *Our students help without being told, *Our students' positive interaction with the LCDC students.

I can't count the number of times I have told people, " We just have good kids!" ... "We have an amazing faculty and staff!"... "We're just family." I thank God for allowing me to be a small part of all of this. I can't wait to see how our Eagles soar in 2015.
