3-D sidewalk artwork

By Jenny Marshall

3-D Sidewalk artwork has a lot to do with depth perception. Which allows your sights to perceive 3 dimensional (3D) objects and the object's distance. So when we see 2 dimensional objects like sidewalk art, we tend to see it 3D, making it look realistic by the distance of the artwork. 3D sidewalk art only works if your looking at a certain view. Light is a big part in 3D sidewalk because (for the picture below) the colors are brighter in the middle causing the eyes to see like coming out of the hole. The darker colors looks like they are shadows. So in the middle the light is brighter, looking like the sunlight and then the sides of the objects that are facing away from the bright colors have darker colors, causing shadows.
