ELEMENTS OF ART

Line--a mark that spans a distance between two points (or the path of a moving point.

Shape--an enclosed space, the boundaries of which are defined by other elements of art (such as lines, colors, values, textures, etc.). It's 2-dimensional. (could be organic or geometric)

Form--a three-dimensional figure (could be organic or geometric)

Space--refers to distances or areas around, between or within components of a piece. Space can be positive or negative, open or closed, shallow or deep and two-dimensional or three-dimensional. (We fill ours!)

Texture--either the way a three-dimensional work actually feels when touched, or the visual "feel" of a two-dimensional work.

Value--refers to the lightness or darkness of a color.

Color--the element of art that is produced when light, striking an object, is reflected back to the eye.
