Richard Strauss

Richard Strauss was born on June 11, 1864. His father was a horn player for the Munich Court Orchestra. He devoted most of his time and energy to music.  He married in September of 1894. He and his wife toured the United States in 1904. After 1908 Strauss lived in Garmisch, Bavaria.  He has composed and conducted 3 pieces Don Juan, Don Quixote and Ein Heldenleben.  He spent part of World War 2 in Vienna then in 1945 he went to Switzerland, he later died at September 8, 1949 at the age of 85.

1.When he left school he composed more than 140 works.

2.Hans von Bulow invited Strauss to conduct the works first performance.

3.At Weimar  he conducted the first performance of his symphonic poem Don Juan.
