To become a Financial Advisor, you shall have to pass a special certification offered by the Financial Planning Standards Board of India or FPSB. It is known as the CFP certification programme and is known to create individuals who are proficient in the field of financial advisory. In order become a certified financial advisor, you need to pass certain examinations that are conducted by the National Stock Exchange.

One can join a training programme after passing class 10th, and pursue it along your secondary school and graduation. You can register by paying a registration fee of about Rs. 10,000; this will be valid for a year. The candidate is supposed to pass five examinations while there is a lock-in for a period of two months during which the candidate cannot give exams. The final exams can only be taken up once the candidate has managed to pass all four exams.

With a CFP certification, you can join Finance companies such as various kinds of banks. There are about 35 educational institutes who offer training for this certification programme. But sometimes, some locations do not really have access to the training centres.
