What is software?

Software is a collection of instructions that enable to a user to interact with the or have the computer perform specific tasks for them. Without software, the computer would be useless. For example, without your internet browser software you would be unable, to browse the internet or read this page and without a software operating system the browser would not be able to run on your computer. The picture at the top is an example of an Microsoft excel software which is a example of a softgware porgram.

Operating Software

A operating software is a system that tell the hardware what to do. Early Computers had no operating system and programs to enter the instructions to which made this a slow and difficult process. However in the modern day computers have many different types of operating system to choose from these to make it easy for the user to use programmes and basic functions.
