Twitter: The Apex of Popular-
Culture and Science

There's few better examples of the integration of popular culture with science and technology than Twitter itself. Through their service they bring news, information, and other updates for topics on everything from gossip, politics, global crises, and whatever else you would want to keep up to date with. This perfectly embodies the fusion of science and pop culture along with society's need for instantaneous information. With the arrival and take over of smartphones its no surprise that Twitter is slowly becoming the front runner in pop culture updates. Between the technology's ability to wirelessly attain data at lightning speeds and twitter's up to minute updates from it's users, they have made for an amalgamation that allows everyone to stay informed up to minute. You could see this happen recently with the passing of famed actor Robin Williams. Through social media such as Twitter, many Americans were able to find out about this story long before the News broke on cable news or other older forms that information used to be spread. That just goes to show how Science and technology has adapted and help enhance pop culture knowledge.

I think this class is really going to open my eyes to how much technology is actually science. I tend to keep the two separate.
