Personal Life

Eugene Lee was born in Beloit, Wisconsin in 1939. He went to Beloit Memorial High School. Eugene Lee has been a member of the Trinity Rep (a non-profit regional theater located in Rhode Island) since 1967. Eugene Lee has degrees from the Art Institute of Chicago, Carnegie Mellon University and an MFA from Yale Drama School. His has three honorary Ph.D's. He has won three Tony Awards for Bernstein's Candide, Sondheim's Sweeney Todd and Wicked. Eugene Lee has also won the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Set Design.

Some of Eugene Lee's other set designs for other musicals. Some of his more famous work is the set design for Saturday Night Live, Alice In Wonderland, The Normal Heart, Agnes of God, Ragtime, Uncle Vanya, Ruby Sunrise, Bounce and The Pirate Queen.
