What is a typical day or task at your career?
- Drive fire trucks and other emergency vehicles
- Put out fires using water hoses, fire extinguishers, and pumps
- Treat sick or injured people
- Clean and maintain equipment
- Find and rescue victims in burning buildings or in other emergency situations.
What education or training does a person need for this career?
The education and training needed for this career is a high school diploma or equivalent. However, some class work beyond high school usually is needed to obtain the emergency medical technician (EMT) basic certification. EMT requirements vary by city and state.
What personal qualities does a person need for this career?
Personal qualities needed for this career is Communication Skills because they need to be able to talk to another fire fighter during a bad situation, also thet need courage because they need it so they won't be scared to go into a burning building if somebody's life depended on it. Two more qualification is that they need physical strength and physical stamina because they cant get tired if they have to use there strength to carry some one out of a burning building.
What things did you learn in school that helps you most at this career?
Things you learn in school that helps you become a firefighter is communication skills you can also do P.E in school and that can help you with your physical strength and stamina.
What do you enjoy most about your career?
The firefighter said that what they enjoy the most is helping and saving lives.
