The Moon Importance
The Moon's Role
the different shapes of the moon you see from earth are phases. They are caused by the motions of the moon around earth. When an object in space comes between the sun and a third object, it cast a shadow on that object, causing an eclipse. Tides are the rise and fall of the ocean water that occurs every 12.5 hours.
The moon has eight different phases. 1. New moon, 2.waxing crescent, 3.first quarter, 4. axing gibbous,5. Full moon, 6.wanning gibbous, 7. Third quarter, 8.wanning crescent. The reason we have moon phases are the changing relative positions of the moon, earth, & sun cause the phases. Phases affect earth by say you work late one night. Would you rather walk on a full moon or new moon? If u were to say full moon the reason is because its brighter.
There are two types of tides spring tides & neap tides. Spring tides are combined forces that produce a tide with the greatest difference between consecutive low and high tides. Neap tides is the Sun's pull at right angles to the Moon's pull, this arrangement is what produces neap tides. They affect earth by the water going down and coming back up after 12.5 hours. So when fisherman go out to fish they have to be back at a certain time so they won't get stuck.
There are only two types of eclipses solar and lunar eclipse. The very darkest part of the moon's shadow is the umbra. The moon casts another part of it's shadow that is less dark than the umbra and it's called penumbra. A solar eclipse occurs when the moon passes directly between earth and the sun. An lunar occurs At a full moon when earth is directly between the moon & sun. So how they affect earth is by when it's a sunny day and a eclipse happens it suddenly turns into night.
What live would be without the moon is we would have no eclipses and the sun would probably & constantly shine. Also are tides would not be as much as they would if we had the moon. An are days would also be shorter than usually. This is why the moon is very important.
