Cinquain poetry was developed by a NY poet and something like a puzzle. This form of poetry has some things in common with the work Adelaide Crapsey, a NY poet . This form also has some things in common with the haiku. However, aside from the fact that it holds to a very specific form and that it is not supposed to rhyme, it is very different. Cinquains have five lines with one word on the first line, two words on the second line, three words on the third line, four words on the fourth line, and one word on the fifth line. Cinquains are a very unique kind of poetry.
