Welcome to Conservatory Prep's African Studies time machine. This evening, we will be exploring the development of modern civilization.
As you can see, early humans were not very sophisticated and lacked the technology of modern societies.
The Agricultural Revolution was a momentous event in human history. Farming communities along the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers became large, independent city-states, such as Sumer and Babylon. These city-states were constantly fighting with each other to gain land and power.
The Great Babylonian King, Hammurabi, created the first written code of laws. These laws tended to favor the wealthy and the punishments were rather cruel.
King Tutankhamun, the boy king, was only 19 years old when he died. He might have been forgotten; however, his tomb was found totally intact. The treasures within allow us an intimate view of ancient Egyptian life.
