Condoms

Condoms are worn on the penis during intercourse. They are made of thin latex or plastic that has been molded into the shape of a penis. Sometimes they are called rubbers, safes, or jimmies. They prevent pregnancy and reduce the risk of sexually transmitted diseases.

Facts:

The average U.S. condom user is between the ages of 18 and 24 and about 70 percent of condom purchases are made by men. The average cost for a 12-pack is $10.99, although they are often less expensive at big box stores such as Target and Walmart.

The condom is located on the penis. It's pretty much one time use. Condoms work by keeping semen (the fluid that contains sperm) from entering the vagina.

They're easily accessible at any drugstore or pharmacy, inexpensive and safe, convenient and easy to use.

Risks!Planned Parenthood states that two of every 100 women whose partners used condoms became pregnant even when they were used properly. Among those who did not use condoms properly, 15 of every 100 women became pregnant.

STD's
They do not afford protection against sexually transmitted diseases that can affect the outer layers of the skin, such as scabies infections and molluscum contagiosum.
