 The Circulatory System is responsible for putting materials throughout the entire body. It transports nutrients, water, and oxygen throughout  body.

Did You Know?! Here on earth your blood tends to pool in your legs but when you are in outer space blood pools in your chest and head... it will give you will have a stuffy nose and red face.

Physicians followed an incorrect model of the circulatory system for 1500 years.  

Experimentation on self led to circulatory breakthroughs.

Human blood comes in different colors- but not blue, human blood comes in colors of muted red, and red, and in some cases in animals a straw like yellow.

The heart does not need a body to survive and work.

             Disorders and Diseases...

Arteriosclerosis- This common disease happens when fatty deposits in the arteries causes the walls to become stiff and that causes the walls to thicken. The causes are too much fat, cholesterol and calcium. This can cause stroke, or even heart attack.

Hypertension (high blood pressure) — This condition causes the heart to work harder and can cause problems like a heart attack, a stroke, or kidney failure.

Aortic Aneurysm- Will occur when the aorta is damaged and starts to bulge or eventually tear, which can cause serious internal bleeding. This weakness can be present at birth or the result of atherosclerosis, obesity, high blood pressure or a combination of these conditions.

Atherosclerosis- the hardening and thickening of the arteries, which causes plaque to develop in the arteries.

Deep vein thrombosis (DVT)- occurs when blood clots form in one of the deep blood veins in your body. Can be life threatening if travels to the lungs.

Arteriovenous malformations (AMVs)- are unusual tangles and knots  of the blood vessels within an area of the circulatory system. Commonly  develop right after or before birth. Can cause particularly severe problems or death.
