Early Life and College

    Martin Luther King Jr. was born on January 15, 1929 by Martin Luther King Sr. and Alberta Williams King.  You may think that Martin Luther King Jr. is his real name, but it's not.  He was born as Michael Luther King Jr, not Martin.  Martin Luther King Jr. went to college at age 15 at Boston University and Morehouse College.  He received his doctorate in systematic theology.

    After Martin Luther King Jr. gave his "I Have A Dream" speech, some amazing things happened.  Can you believe that 250,000 people of different races gathered at the Lincoln Memorial to watch Martin's speech?  Most whites and blacks dealt with that they should come together but other black and whites kept on doing what they were doing before the speech ever happened.  Here is the story behind how MLKJ (Martin Luther King Jr.) Day.  On  November 2, 1983, President Ronald Reagan signed a bill that made this day official.

Steps To Success

     There are many steps in Martin Luther King Jr.'s success.  I narrowed them down into five steps.

1. Martin Luther King Jr. gave his speech in front of 250,000 people at the Lincoln Memorial

2. Most blacks and whites came together but others kept segregating

3. He received the Nobel Piece Prize in 1964 because of his speech

4. Was assassinated in Memphis, TN on April 4, 1968 by a white man named James Earl Ray

5. President Ronald Reagan signed a bill on November 2, 1983 which made Martin Luther King Jr. day official.
