A project for Science by Ansleigh and Campbell Reid
In 2011, an accident caused the biggest oil spill in human history. It happened in the Gulf of Mexico, and over 200 million gallons of oil was spilled into the ocean. The gulf of Mexico is still suffering from the effects of this spill, and the damage to our environment was terrible. The oil on the waters surface impacted the water cycle.
Many animals were hurt, due to the oil spill, and over 8000 were reported dead because of this disaster. Many of these were on the endangered species list. A plethora of organizations helped with the clean up, but there is still damage in the Gulf.
