The commercial, “Old Spice Get shaved in the face” is an amazing commercial. It ran while I watching the Super Bowl. In it, Old Spice is trying to sell their product of razors and facial shavers, through ethos, logos, and pathos. The commercial uses various ways through the camera angle and explosive backgrounds to display the amazing product they have. This commercial demonstrates pathos, ethos, and logos in ways to help sell their product.

In the commercial we see Terry Crewes and explosions everywhere. There’s also cross-dressing involved in the commercial. It’s mainly based off of an idea of scaring yourself. One day you wake up with a nightmare beard. You need a way to shave it off and be free of it. Sometimes you just need to be yourself. Terry Crewes appears with another man and he has a beard. Terry yells at him and has him shave his face. The other man then turns into Terry Crewes. Then suddenly Terry wakes up in his bed with his wife, but his wife is him. He freaks out and explodes. The commercial ends by him shaving himself to pieces.

Sometimes in life unexpected things happen. You can’t always control these things. The target audience is mainly males. Males with beards and who like explosions. It’s a simple audience but it’s a large majority of people who watch television.

This commercial definetly uses ethos. It has Terry Crewes in it. He is a very popular famous man. He has been in many movies. He looks like a bodybuilder. It makes you want to trust him because if you shave off your nasty beard like he says, you will look like him. It would be nice to look like him because he is huge and yoked.

Logos is also used in the commercial. Obviously the commercial is a little crazy with the explosions and terry crews shirtless, but it's logical. Sometimes you grow crazy facial hair that is unneeded. The razor will help you get clean cut and back into shape. You will be looking and feeling better then ever. This is a logical reason as to why you should purchase the product.

There's not many emotional appeals in the commercial. The only emotion I saw was the passion in Terry Crewes yelling. He was freaking out because his wife was himself. He really cared about getting rid of his beard and looking like a better man. I would purchase this razor. There’s no music but the explosions make us feel alive. They grab our attention and reel us in.

Ethos, logos, and pathos are all shown in this commercial. Each in their own individual way. Ethos is shown through the main character in the commercial being famous. Logos is shown through the logical reasoning of wanting to look good. Pathos is shown through the passion of Terry. All in all this commercial makes sense and is persuasive.

The commercial makes great use of computer software. There are explosions and music in it. These effects really help to shape the commercial. The commercial is simple and effective. I would definitely purchase their product.
