Animism

  • main belief was to worship spirits of nature
  • worship ancestors
  • Affect on culture was that they had a great respect for nature
  • they did not have a holy text
  • Related people was Sir Edward Tylor
  • Related elements was nature and spirits
  • Animism was from Africa

Shintoism

  • Originated from Japan
  • Komi was the spirit in every thing, the emperor was god like and was very important to the people, Prince Shutoku was the founder of the religion
  • Shintoism did not have a holy text that they followed
  • Shintoism also had a great respect for nature especially their past emperors

Hinduism

  • Originated in India
  • the holy text was the Vedas
  • there were no specific people involved in Hinduism
  • related elements of Hinduism are; reincarnation, karma, dharma, and the caste system
  • the effect on the culture was that they all tried to lead a good moral life in order to keep moving up on the caste system

Buddhism

  • originated in India
  • Buda was the founder of the religion
  • there was no holy text for them to follow
  • they followed the "four noble path" and the eight-fold path
  • the impact on the culture was that the people of the religion were very accepting

Taoism

  • originated from china
  • Lao Tzu, the founder of Taoism he also wrote the holy text
  • the holy text is the Tao Te Ching
  • related elements: the people need to follow the way of nature and accept the things that can be changed
  • the people of Taoism culture learned to accept what they can not change and they do not change the natural processes

Confucianism

  • it originated in china
  • Confucius was the founder of Confucianism
  • the Analects was the holy text
  • the related elements were that the people had to accept there role in society
  • the impact on the culture was that the people had a great deal of respect for parents, elders, and the country

Judaism

  • originated from Middle East
  • the founder of Judaism was Abraham
  • the holy text was the torah
  • they were monotheistic and believed that god would send a messah
  • the impact on the culture was that the people tried to follow gods laws ( the 10 commandments) so that the messah will come

Christianity

  • originated from the middle east
  • believed that Jesus was the messah and the son of god
  • the holy text was the bible the new and old testament
  • they were monotheistic and believed the messah had already came
  • impact on the culture, it spread fast because it had simple rules

Islam

  • originated from the middle east
  • Allah was there god that they worshiped and Mohammed was the messah
  • the holy text was the Qur'an also spelled as Koran
  • they were also monotheistic
  • they followed the religious laws of Islam(they are so important that they usually became the political laws of the nation)

Interesting facts

  1. Judaism was the most popular religion in the world and Jesus was a follower of it
  2. Buddhism did not believe in any thing supernatural. They also did not beleive in god
