About Fred Cowan Kentucky

A legal professional and elected official for more than 35 years, Fred Cowan of Kentucky serves as a circuit court judge for Jefferson County's 30th Judicial Circuit. A former attorney general and state representative as well, he has completed more than 12 years in public service to the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Additionally, in private practice, Fred Cowan was counsel to the Louisville law firms of Lynch, Cox, Gilman & Mahan and Rice & Seiller.

The recipient of numerous professional honors, Fred Cowan is a life fellow of the Kentucky Bar Foundation and a charter fellow of the Louisville Bar Foundation. He earned several continuing legal education awards from the state bar association as well as the 1998 Public Interest Award from the National Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors. Furthermore, Fred Cowan received an AV-rating as an attorney from the Martindale-Hubbell service.*

He has lectured and presented to many groups across Kentucky. He most recently appeared before the Kentucky Bar Associaton's annual convention, where he discussed effective legal writing in circuit court. A published author as well, Fred Cowan has written numerous articles for professional journals and general-interest periodicals.
