Rwanda Genocide (1994)
The Rwandan Genocide occurred in 1994. During this time there were only 7 million people in Rwanda, and this population was composed of three different ethnic groups. The two main ethnic groups involved were the Hutus and Tutsis. The Tutsis were targeted by the Hutus, and in an effort of revenge attempted to kill off the entire Tutsis population. By April 6, 1994, 3/4 of the Tutsi population (about 800,000) had perished.
