Heat and Temperature

The first thing you must know is energy, if you want to understand Heat and Temperature. Kinetic Energy and Potential Energy are very importent for Heat and Temperature. All objects have molecules and they move around or shake. Kinetic energy is the energy of motion of each matter. So all molecules have kinetic energy.There are many forms of kinetic energy.

If you put an object higher, that more potential energy it has. But if you drop it down, that is kinetic energy.

Differenc between Temperature and Heat

Temperature is only the average kinetic energy in an object. Also you can measure by Celsius scale, Fahrenheit scale and Kelvin scale. Kelvin scale is used from scientists, 0 degrees Kelvin is the lowest temperature, -273 degrees Celsius. The freezing point of Celsius scale is 0 degrees Celsius and the boilling Is 100 degrees Celsius.

But heat is the total energy of particales or kinetic energy and potential energy connected . It's the motion in an object and the Mass. For example

Heat can transfer of a higher Temperature of matter to a lower temperature of matter by convection, radiation and conduction. But its different, matells are better conductore as non metals.

Convection, Conduction and Radiation

We know now, that heat can transfer by three different types, Convection, Conduction and Radiation.

If heat transfered by directly contact of a substance to an other, that is called Conduction.That better the conducter is, that more rapitly heat will transfered like steel or iron, but isolators are wood or air. If you touch a metall spoon and this metall spoon is heated, then the molecules push each other from one end of the spoon to the other end.

Convection is the up and down movement of liquids and gases.If gas or liquids are heated it raised, expense and warms because it is less dense, but if gases and liquidsare colledit becomes more dense. Dense means, if the molecules are closer together it has more dense. For example the spoon is in boilling water and the heat of the water transfered in the spoon.

But Radiation transfered by electromagnetic waves. That means, if heat transfered by special waves in empty space from an hot object. If this electro magnetic waves contact with something, then transfered heat from the space to an object. For example a heater send electromagnetic waves in your room and this makes you and your room warm.

Solids, Liquids and Gases

All material are solids, liquids or gasesa dn we can't live without it. Most solids will melt when heated and liquids evaporate to form a gas.Gas, liquid, and solid are known as the three states of matter

Some solids are hard and strong, others are flexible like ice or. Solids have their own shape and don't flow. They can't be compressed keep the same volume. If you heat a solid, the most solids turn into a liquid. The molecules in solids are close together or much dense. The molecules only shake a little bit, but it has a lot of thermal energy, that means the mass in an object.

Liquids are material like water or oil. They take the shape of their container and liquids flow or be poured easily. They can't be compressed, they keep the same volume. If you heat a liquid it turns into gas, but if you cool a liquid it turns into a solid.The molecules aren't lose together and move fast. It has not much dense, but more kinetic energy.

Gases are material like air. They spread out and change their shape and volume to fill up each container they are in. Gases can be squashed. In gas the molecules are very far away and move very fast. It has a tiny bit danse, but a lot of kinetic enrgy. Gases have the less thermal en
