It's Never Too Late For The Adventure Of a Life Time!
The Honest Truth
In all ways that matter, Mark is a normal kid. He's got a dog named Beau, and a best friend, Jessie. He likes to take photos and write Haiku Poems in his notebook. He dreams of climbing a mountain one day.
But in an important way, Mark is not like other kids at all. Mark is sick. The kind of sick that means hospitals. And treatments. The kind of sick that some people never get better from.
So Mark runs away. He leaves home with his camera, his notebook, his dog, and a plan. A plan to reach the top of Mount Rainier. Even if it's the last thing that he ever does.
THE HONEST TRUTH is a rare and extraordinary novel about big questions, small moments, and one incredible journey.
Mount Rainier National Park is located in west-central Washington state. This is where Mark is heading.
Mark is the main character in the book. Like I said, Mark is very sick. He has cancer. He is very skinny, pale and he has brown hair. Mark is from Wenatchee Washington. Whenever Mark left home, he left behind his girl best friend Jess, and it made his parents worry about him. While Mark is on his way to the Mountain a couple of teenagers beat him up, and Mark almost dies, from exposure.
Beau is Marks' dog. Beau is a small dog I'm pretty sure, because he can fit into Marks' duffle bag, and Mark can hold him up. Beau is always by Marks' side. He is a sweet, soft, and caring dog. While Mark and Beau are walking threw the mountain, they both fall into freezing cold water. Beau also falls down a crevice and almost dies.
