Why try being somebody else, when you can spend that time building yourself? Kurt is exclaiming that people, who act like others, are wrong. He wants others to proudly be themselves, while not conforming to the average in society. Each person has their own personality, but some waste theirs trying to be who they aren't, though it sounds cliché, it is true. It shouldn't be forgotten, that nonconformity molds independence. As Walt Whitman once wrote, "The beauty of independence, departure, actions that rely on themselves" sharing the same power of independent individualism.1)
