Title: Gravel "poof"!

Names: Paris,Sammy,Bailee

Question:

Would there be a difference if we took the gravel away?

Hypothesis:

Paris,i think the water will be obsored  the sand and clay because sand and clay and the rock doesnt.

Sammy,I think with out the rocks most of the water will go throught easer because when gravel was there,it blocked most  of the water.

Bailee,I think that more water will go through with clay and sand because clay and sand can hold LOTS of water.

Materials

2 trays

cup

ruler

bowl

2 lifts

clay

sand

gravel

Variable:

We are going to take out the gravel.

What are we going to measure/observe?

We are going to measure the amount of water that goes in the bowl in milliliters.

Units:

mL= 650mL no gravel

mL= 750mL with gravel

what are we going to keep the same?

  We going to keep sand,clay,and water the same.

Both before water
Both after adding water

Conclusion

Yes, there was a big difference between the two 650 with gravel and 750 with out gravel. We know that if we add water with the gravel the water will bounce of and go through the sand and clay faster. We also know that with out the gravel it wont stay it will just stick in the sand and clay.
