Hoot

A Book Review By LM

I recently read Hoot by Carl Hiaasen, and I really liked it. Roy Eberhardt has just moved to Florida, and he's pretty disappointed. Bullies, being an only child, and having parents who are always working are making Florida seem boring. But when a mysterious boy with no shoes runs right in front of Roy one day before school, Roy is determined to find out who the boy is and what he was doing. Roy's life is turned upside-down in a whirlwind of adventure with tough girls, the police, and miniature owls. Who is the mysterious running boy? What does Beatrice "The Bear" have to do with him? Can Roy save the owls from Mother Paula's Pancake House?
