GAPP CHS 2014!  Ich war dabei!

G.A.P.P.- The German American Partnership Program exchange is a yearly opportunity for our students to host a German student and then go live with a German family during the summer.  This year was an amazing experience!  We lived through many of our typical exchange activities and on top of that, we experienced the World Cup Championship live in Germany.  Germany defeated Argentina 1-0 to win the title!  WELTMEISTER 2014!!

Let's start with some unique photos of German Pride!

Where do we go on our exchange?
Our partner school is located in Pfaffenhofen, Germany. It is about 40 minutes north of the capital of the state of Bavaria, Munich. BMV Autos is located in Munich, and Audi is located in Ingolstadt, just north of Pfaffenhofen. Our partner school is a Gymnasium, the German equivalent to a college-preparatory high school.

Pfaffenhofen, Germany.  Welcome to the PAF!!!!

PUBLIC VIEWING!!!!!!- A German Phenomenon.

Beginning in 2006, when Germany hosted the World Cup, fans have flocked to restaurants, Biergartens, public parks, and downtown squares to experience the World Cup together. For the World Cup Final this July 2014, 87% of all German televisions were tuned to the game! It is estimated that over 70 million of Germany's 85 million citizens watched the game. That's 82% of the population!!!

How did Herr Knauff experience the World Cup Final?
Here are some photos of a viewing party in Munich. This was a club with an outside area seating apporximately 1,500 people. The screen was the size of a movie screen, and the excitement and energy was off the charts!!

Berlin- Die Fanmeile
Germany's largest public viewing took place in the capital of Berlin, where over 1 million people watched the game together.  Here is some footage of the excitement on championship night!
