Accomplished Durham Competitive Swimmer Garrett Julian House
Recruited to Louisiana State University as a swimmer, Garrett Julian House recently earned his high school diploma from the Trinity School of Durham and Chapel Hill in North Carolina. Affiliated with the Duke Aquatics Team’s summer program since the age of eight, he swam for the team full-time for five years throughout his teenage years. Particularly accomplished in breaststroke and individual medley (IM) events, Garrett Julian House has achieved a personal best of 0:56.51 in the 100-yard breast. Over the past several years, he has regularly competed in the SwimMAC Charlotte UltraSwim meet, which brings together many of the nation’s top swimmers, including Olympic athletes.
As a youth, Garrett Julian House lived in Singapore and Jakarta, Indonesia, and participated in swim teams in these countries. He also took part in a number of community-focused activities that included providing food to the needy in Indonesia and assisting a Christian orphanage in buying, wrapping, and delivering Christmas presents. Today, he volunteers for the American Red Cross and participates in the Christian outreach group Young Life. In addition to swimming, Mr. House enjoys a full range of sports activities that include skiing, mountain biking, and motocross. A football fan, he roots for the NFL’s Pittsburgh Steelers.
