About Gary Tolchin
A New Jersey-based business developer and investor, Gary Tolchin started out working on Wall Street as a stock exchange messenger in the mid 1970s. In 1977, he joined specialty trading company Spear, Leeds & Kellogg as a clerk and worked his way up to commodities broker in the early ‘80s. As a commodities broker, Gary Tolchin opened a new division for Spear, Leeds & Kellogg before becoming a stockbroker. During his 11 years as a stockbroker with the firm, he traded on both the AMEX and NYSE, and he consistently performed in the top 10 percent of the company’s brokers.
Gary Tolchin joined MTS Investors, LLC, of Freehold, New Jersey, as a principal investor in 2002. He currently serves in this capacity and heads the boutique firm’s business investing practice and trading activities. A family man, Gary Tolchin spends his free time with his wife Tamar and their three children. He and his wife own an upscale New Jersey restaurant, which they bought in 2001. They also breed horses and donate to local and national charities, among them The Foodbank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties and the American Cancer Society.
