Gathering of Nations
committed to promoting Native American culture
About Gathering of NationS
Since its origination in 1983, the
Gathering of Nations has been committed to promoting Native American
culture past and present. The annual Gathering of Nations PowWow has
become the premier event for the Indian community and is known as the
biggest such event in North America. The PowWow features dancing and
singing competitions that are judged in an impartial manner, as well as
shopping, performances, and other forms of entertainment. In 2013, the
Gathering of Nations PowWow will be held from April 25 to April 27 at
the University of New Mexico Arena in Albuquerque.
Aside from the PowWow, the group offers an assortment of resources catered to the Native community, including an email service. Its Internet radio service, produced through a partnership with Clear Channel’s iHeartRadio, features Native American music of all genres and is available to listeners free. Another key component of the organization’s efforts is the Gathering of Nations Newsletter, which contains information on the latest news, offers, and contests. Subscriptions are available via email or standard mail.
