the declaration of independence

why does a just government need consent of the governed?

        - The most fundamental concept of democracy is the idea that government exists to secure the rights of the people and must be based on the consent of the governed

Who is responsible for protecting or guaranteeing our inalienable rights?

        - the government

-Are the principles of unalienable rights and government by consent in the Declaration outdated, or are they still true today?

        - they are still true today

- do these principles matter to you? if so, how and why?

        - yes, because i like living in a country where i can make my own choices and to live in a country where the government can't make my choices for me.
