The region of Southeast Asia has been home to some of the most notable empires and civilizations in human history. The region has been home to Pagan Kingdom, Khmer Empire, the Trading Kingdoms, and the empires of Vietnam. They had independently developed their own systems of government, culture, religion, engineering, architecture, and technology. They were influenced by ideas from outside parties such as Chinese or Indian cultures and influenced China and India as well through trade. Cities have been unearthed in this region and they have found to be very ahead of their time in terms of urban planning and engineering.
