Tackk allows anyone, to create anything, and share it anywhere. There is no software to download, no login required, nothing to join, no special design or development skills needed. Its so simple.

The IB Design Cycle

The IB design cycle is a tool used by International Baccalaureate students to help them create and evaluate solutions in response to challenges. This tool involves the following 5 steps:

Inquiring and analyzing

-explain and justify the need for a solution to a problem for a specified client/target audience

-ex. My laptop is old an isnt working

-identify and prioritize the primary and secondary research needed to develop a solution to the problem

-ex. Online, Computer shops, Manual, Updates

-analyse a range of existing products that inspire a solution to the problem

-ex. a new mac, a new microsoft, a used laptop, new computer peices

-develop a detailed design brief which summarizes the analysis of relevant research

-ex .My laptop is old and isn’t working properly and I need to use it for school and work. I need to buy a new one. I went online (on my phone) and saw other new phones I could possibly or I can use a company I found to get it fixed.

Developing ideas

-develop a design specification which clearly states the success criteria for the design of a solution

-ex. make sure the company is real, make sure I can afford it, make sure the computer is in good condition, make sure the computer is what you’re looking for, compare the different possible phones

-develop a range of feasible design ideas which can be correctly interpreted by others

-ex. new laptop, used laptop in good condition, fix your old laptop

-present the final chosen design and justify its selection

-ex. “make sure you have the best quality phone” would be the best idea because you don’t want to waste your money on an item that you don’t want.

-develop accurate and detailed planning drawings/diagrams and outline the requirements for the creation of the chosen solution

-ex. You are going to have a new laptop that you can use to pay bills, do your homework, etc.

Creating the solution

-construct a logical plan, which describes the efficient use of time and resources, sufficient for peers to be able to follow to create the solution

-ex. 1. research different laptops (20 minutes)

2. go to best buy (15 minutes)

3. talk to a worker there and inform them on the type of laptop you’re looking for (5 minutes)

4. discuss the price (10 minutes)

5. get the new laptop (5 minutes)

6. make sure it’s what you’re looking for (10 minutes)

7. pay (5 minutes)

-demonstrate excellent technical skills when making the solution

        -ex. updated software, understands laptops

-follow the plan to create the solution, which functions as intended

-ex. Check off your to do list

-fully justify changes made to the chosen design and plan when making the solution

        -ex. no changes were made

-present the solution as a whole in electronic form or through photographs of the solution from different angles, showing details

-ex. Show off your new laptop

-design detailed and relevant testing methods, which generate data, to measure the success of the solution

-ex. turn on phone, try using apps

-critically evaluate the success of the solution against the design specification

-ex. The phone was exactly what I am looking for

-explain how the solution could be improved

-ex. i can save more money next time

-explain the impact of the solution on the client/target audience

-ex. i got a better phone for a good price
