How Choices Will Affect Your Body and Life
There are many things that will affect your body and your daily life such as; tobacco, drugs, alcohol use, amount of exercise, quality of air, and kinds of food you may consume.
Tobacco affects your body in many ways that will decrease you quality of life and may even lead to death. It will affect your brain by the nicotine that will go to your brain very quickly and cause you to be anxious, nervous, moody, depressed, and will lead to headaches/dizziness. Also, tobacco affects your heart by increasing blood pressure and it leads to heart disease and/or heart attacks. This will make it much more difficult to do any type of physical activity. Smoking tobacco severely affects the lungs by leading to lung disease or lung cancer. Bones will become less dense as you continue to smoke and may lead to osteoporosis which is a disease where bones become weaker and are more likely to fracture. Also, smoking will make your skin more yellow with more wrinkles and will affect your muscles by allowing less blood to flow to them making it harder for physical activity. These are some of the many effects of smoking tobacco on your body and life and there are still many more.
Alcohol consumption can severely harm both your body and your life in many ways that may even lead to premature death. It will affect the heart in many ways such as: cardiomyopathy(stretching and drooping of heart muscle), arrhythmias(irregular heart beat), high blood pressure, and even stroke. However, moderate consumption of alcohol may protect healthy adults from developing coronary heart disease. Over consumption of alcohol may also cause severe effects on the liver that can lead to steatosis/fatty liver, alcoholic hepatitis, fibrosis, and cirrhosis. It may also lead to cancer which is one of the leading causes of death in the United States. Some of the cancers caused by overuse of alcohol include: mouth cancer, esophagus cancer, throat cancer, liver cancer, and breast cancer. Drinking too much alcohol can severely weaken your immune system so that it is much easier to catch diseases like tuberculosis and pneumonia. It may even affect your pancreas by causing it to produce toxic substances that will lead to pancreatitis which makes it more difficult to digest food. These are some of the many effects of over consumption of alcohol on the body and your life thathave a decreased quality of life and may lead to death.
These are only two of the many substances that can severely affect both your body and your life in a very negative way. Therefore, if you want to to live a long healthy life, you will stay away from these substances, increase your amount of physical activity, and live in a clean environment with minimal air pollution.
