About Geoffrey Richards

Geoffrey Richards recently became the managing director and head of U.S. special situations and restructuring at Canaccord Genuity, a division of Canaccord Financial, Inc. Previously, Geoffrey Richards was in charge of the special situations and restructuring practice at William Blair & Company.

Mr. Richards began working as a banker in 2007. Since then, he has facilitated 40 transactions that were valued as high as $2.5 billion. Turnarounds & Workouts named him an Outstanding Investment Banker in 2011, and the Distressed M&A and Turnaround Intelligence Forum recognized him as Middle Market Investment Banker of the Year in 2012.

He was president of Phi Alpha Theta honor society when he was pursuing a bachelor’s degree in history at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Subsequently, he earned a juris doctor from Brooklyn Law School.

Mr. Richards has received a number of awards throughout his career. His awards include the Restructuring Banker of the Year Award and being recognized as one of Crain's Chicago's 40 Under 40 in 2009.


Today, Geoff Richards maintains membership in a variety of professional organizations. These include the American Bankruptcy Institute and the Turnaround Management Association.
