Siege of Malta (1940-42)

This is a photo of bomb damage from the Siege of Malta (1940-1942). This photo was taken in Valetta, after the siege. The axis and the allies were fighting over Malta as it was the only military base between Gibraltar and Alexandria (Egypt). The British had received a crucial advantage in the war as they exploited the island's positioning and location. This photo was taken to document the damage done to the islands. We should care about this, as it shows the growth and transformation of Malta from the 1940s to present; how they rebuilt and started anew. This photo is related to my country, and albeit they experienced devastating events they still strive to be a great country.
