Give a Skill for the Holidays

So you want to buy gifts for everyone on your list, but that means spending money you don't have!

As the saying goes, teach a man to fish and he will eat for a lifetime.  This time of year, you want to show the people you love just how much you love them.  And a great way to do that is to buy them all sorts of expensive toys.  But putting a bigger price tag on a gift doesn't mean you love them any more, so why not save some money this year and TEACH something.   You know a lot more than you think you do.

Computer Software

Computer software is a gift that keeps on giving.  Teaching someone to use a complicated program will allow them to gain more skills and be more productive.  You know something that others don't like Quickbooks, Photoshop, TurboTax, Excel... the list goes on.  And, a 30-day trial for most software is free! That means free for you to teach in 30 days!  You can also teach someone some simple tricks to use their gadgets in their life.  Just sit down with them for an hour, and patiently explain everything about their new iPhone.

House Projects

You know how to replace that old hardware on your kitchen cabinets? Buy some from the local hardware store and put them into the stockings! It's a great way to spruce up the look of any kitchen, and it's easier than you think! This idea can also apply to any sort of around the house project.  Refinishing furniture, installing a ceiling fan, building a birdhouse... anything that you can do, they want to know how to!  It also allows for some serious bonding time with your older brother (he got new drywall in his basement last year.)

What other skills can YOU give away for Christmas?
