Defense in the NBA is extremely valuable. Nerlens Noel, though currently rehabbing from a torn ACL, is already talented enough to be a great NBA defender at the center position. He is limited offensively, but he is athletic and is a highflying dunker. Though he did not play in many college games, the Cavs' last two Number 1 picks played in even fewer college games than he did! Based on that luck, the Cavs shouldn't jinx anything by drafting anyone else. Noel draws comparisons to Tyson Chandler, a player who is invaluable defensively, something that cannot be measured perfectly on the stat sheet right now. That said, Team USA does not win a gold medal in the Olympics without Chandler and they probably don't even stand on the podium without him down low. With the league getting faster and turning in to NBA Jam, i.e. three pointers and dunks, being able to limit the dunks and points in the paint from other teams would be immensely helpful. Great centers, especially defensively, are very tough to come by in the NBA. The Cavs cannot pass on the opportunity to draft one. Did I mention he has a great hi-top fade?
