Underage drinking accounts for 11.4 % of alcohol consumption in the United states. Nearly ten million people between the ages of 12 and 20 have consumed alcohol in the last thirty days. The average American boy has had his first drink of beer by the age of 11, and the average girl by the age of 13. Over 80 percent of high school students have admitted to drinking at least once, and 40 percent of them had drank during or before the eighth grade.
I personally think that if somebody wants to drink once or twice then they can. But once that person starts drinking heavily, and relies on it every day, they should be taken to somebody for help. If they refuse this help, then their parents should make sure that they don't go out where they could drink, and that they don't have any alcohol in the house.
