The Complete history of
Jack the Ripper

--- Basic info

Title: The complete history of Jack the Ripper

Author: Philip Sugden

Genre: Non-Fiction

--- About the author: He was born on January 27, 1947 in Hull, England. He was an English historian.  He went to the University of Hull where his interest in history developed. In 1976 he got a job at Chenet School  in Cannock. There, he taught history, English and economics. It was during that time that he became interested in the crime of 18th century London. It was in 1988 when he quit teaching and started writing. He completed this book after 9 years of research. While researching facts for his book, he tried to take out all false facts and myths that other researchers had used. He was the first historian to do this research. He died in April 2014, at the age of 67.

--- Setting

Jack the Ripper murdered woman in and around the areas of White chapel district of London. All of his "canonical"  murders took place from August 31 to November 9, 1888.

--- Main Character  * ( Canonical: Accepted as being accurate and authoritative)

Jack the Ripper is probably most known for his name and for the fact that he is still an unidentified serial killer. His 5 canonical murder victims were female prostitutes that lived and worked in that area. They were Mary Ann Nichols, Annie Chapman, Elizabeth Stride, Catherine Eddowes, and Mary Jane Kelly.  The way that  the authorities would find the victims body led to a conclusion that Jack had anatomical or surgical knowledge. Supposedly, Jack sent letters after the murder. He sent a letter "from hell"  to George Lusk from the white chapel vigilance committee. It had half a preserved human kidney.

--- Conflict

I guess the conflict would be that Jack the Ripper kept murdering people but none, not even the authorities, knew who he was.

----I liked this book because it gives you a lot of information about Jack the Ripper and only tells you true facts and explains why and how other theories and myths used by other authors are wrong.

----I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in the study of Ripperology ( the study of the infamous Jack the ripper) because this book has only true facts.

----The viewer should go and buy this book because it is very interesting and makes you rethink what you thought you knew about Jack the ripper.
