Chromebooks and iPads are very different. But in some ways, they can be the exact same. Chromebooks and iPads are the same because Both electronics have apps. On both devices, you can download different apps, games, etc. Also, they are both the same because You can use both devices for school purposes only. Both of these devices are not used for texting your friend or watching inappropriate things from different sites. And another thing that makes these two devices alike is that neither have Microsoft.

Although Chromebooks and iPads have a lot of similarities, These two devices are also very different. For example, the Chromebooks are being used just by you and only you. But on the other hand, iPads are being used by all of the students at the school. Which means you can personalize The Chromebook for yourself. But in a difference, you can not personalize the iPads or add apps without a teacher’s permission. Also, another difference between the two is that with the Chromebook, you only have to sing in once to things such as Google drive, email, etc. But for the iPads, if you do need to get into your email, you will need to log in to your account if you have one, but once you are done with your email or Google drive, you will have to log out every time so the next time that another student uses the iPad, it will not be on your account. And one other thing that is a difference between the two is that a Chromebook can be faster for typing than an iPad. But it does depend on what different people are most used to.

So in an overall conclusion, There are many similarities and differences between Chromebooks and iPads.

When on the Chromebook and you look up something or watch something that is not school appropriate (even if it is on accident!) there can be several different consequences. For example, since last year, the Liberty Public Schools opened up Youtube for the students, if you click on an inappropriate video and you decide to watch it, there can be major consequences. Your teacher have a long and meaningful conversation. Or your teacher might even take your Chromebook away until you can handle it. Another thing that you will have minor OR major consequences is when you use your email or google drive for non school purposes. for example, if you email your classmate and talk about when you are having that party on Saturday. Or on google drive, you create a document about how you love the color purple. Your teacher can view what you have been emailing to your classmates or anyone. Dr. Palmer can view any inappropriate or non school related emails when necessary. Teachers and other staff may not be able to view your google drive from their device, but they can catch you doing something wrong on drive from the blink of an eye. And as another example, if you teacher told you to work on a science presentation for class, and you are looking up cool pictures for your wallpaper, there can be consequences for that particular action. Like if you do that, you can clip down or be reminded with a big warning the next time you do that. And lastly, is the multiple consequences when you damage your Chromebook. (physically.) If you get a major crack or scratch or even a dent in your Chromebook, then there could be major consequences if you do not have insurance for your Chromebook. If you do have insurance, then you can get a new Chromebook and you do not have to worry about not having a Chromebook for the rest of the school year. If you do not have Chromebook insurance, then you wil have to wait for a new Chromebook if possible, or you will have to use a school laptop. So just remember that if you make inappropriate action on/to the device, then there can be major consequences.

Step 1. Once you get your Chromebook, make sure that you hold it with BOTH of your hands. The Chromebooks here at Lewis & Clark are very important to the students and teachers. So make sure that you take very good care of it.

Step 2. Once you get back to your classroom if you have not already, carefully take your Chromebook out of your bag and sit it on your desk or table. do not open your Chromebook unless your teacher tells you to.

Step 3. Before you open up your Chromebook, your teacher and possibly a few helpers will help you put your name (which is printed on a sticker) on your Chromebook, bag, and charger. When you are done with that, go back to your seat if you aren’t already and wait for your teacher’s next directions. (And do not open your Chromebook until further notice!)

Step 4. Once your teacher tells you that you can open your Chromebook, you will most likely see a login page that will ask for your email and your password. If you need help with the login, you can ask your teacher. But if you open your Chromebook and you do not see a login page. your teacher will provide help if that does happen.

Step 5. After you have your log-in done, your teacher might take you on a tour through the Chromebook and show you Google search, apps, etc.

Tip 1. After you have taken a tour through your Chromebook, you might already be wondering about how you change your wallpaper and how you can change your profile picture. You can do this by listening to the next couple of steps!

Step 6. How to change your wallpaper: click on your little picture on the bottom right corner and go to settings. Then once you have that done, you should be able to see a page that has multiple default wallpapers and backgrounds. you now have choice to choose a wallpaper that you like.

Step 7. How to change your profile picture: click on your picture on the bottom right corner and go to settings. Then scroll down to the very bottom and you will see your default picture move your mouse to it and you should see a tab that says “change.“ Click on that and then click on the icon that shows a picture of a camera. Click on that and you should see your face with the webcam. click on the green button and then press done

Tip 2. And you are done with the setup of your very own Chromebook! have fun with learning and enjoying things on your Chromebook!!!

If your parents aren’t able to afford the insurance to bring your Chromebook home, then here are some solutions to this particular problem. If you can’t bring it home, then you go to your closest public library and log in to your google account, but be sure to log out once you are done. Also (this is an easier way to do this) if you have a family laptop or computer, you can easily get into your school account from there. As long as you have google anywhere, it is possible. So that is one solution to this problem.

So if you do not have any resources outside of school, than this may be harder to do when you are at home. but if you or your parents or guardians have any sort of phones (samsung will most likely work for this) then you should have an app called drive. It is google drive. from there, you can enter your google drive student account.

Now your insurance also covers up the damages to your Chromebook. So if you do unlikely damage you Chromebook, then it will be unfortunate and your parents or guardians will have to pay quite a bit to cover it up or you will not have a Chromebook for the time. So just be aware that you might not have as many advantages as others.

Now those were just the two main reasons why Parents pay for insurance and what the insurance will mainly cover. But there are also other some benefits in having insurance for your Chromebook. But you may once again not have insurance. So here are some things that you can do at home, so that than you can do things without your Chromebook. Now your teacher might for example want you to do homework with your Chromebook. Now since you can’t bring your Chromebook home, you can easily do it on a piece of paper and a pencil if possible. If the homework is that you have to read an article online or if it’s something to do with email, you can go to your local public library and work on your homework with a computer/laptop there. (mid-continent is a great place for doing homework with technology!!)

Also, your teacher may want you(and classmates too) to do something at home that you can only do with your Chromebook. Now I personally think that this is a great idea. if you have a school club after school or before school the next day, you can work on it during that time if your teacher gives you permission.

There are many different benefits for when you use Chromebooks for learning in school and outside of school. Of course, the main thing that Chromebooks are great for is to be prepared to use the new kind of technology. And you can learn a lot of different thing that I am going to talk to you about that you might not be able to do with just a piece of paper and a pencil. So, I hope that you can’t wait to learn more about the benefits on Chromebooks!!!There are many different benefits for when you use Chromebooks for learning in school and outside of school. Okay, so when we didn’t have our own personal Chromebooks or any technology that is only used for ourselves. So it is a different feel. But Chromebooks are great for learning because you can personalize your Chromebook which means you can get a skin for you Chromebook and you can get a cool background that you like. So when you do work on your Chromebook, you can feel comfortable with the style since you personalized it for yourself.

Also, another great benefit for when you are using your Chromebook for learning is that you easily organize your online documents, presentations, etc. Google drive does all that for you! You can make folders on google drive for different subjects in school, so you can put your work in a certain folder/subject that your document would go into. you can also delete documents that you do not need anymore, so you never have to worry about having too many documents/presentation etc.

This is its own separate thing on your Chromebook. but for some people, listening to music while working on their Chromebook, they can work faster, and better. If you have your own personal account on Pandora, your teacher can let you listen to your own choice of music. (as long as it is appropriate.)
