Richard Wagner was born May 22, 1883 in Liepzig, Germany. Wagner was one of 8 other siblings. Less than a year after his birth, his father passed away, his widowed mother soon remarried. When Wagner was young he studied music with Theodore Weinlig. When he came of age he worked as a Choral Director in Wurzburg, Germany. He began writing music in 1883. His first piece was Die Feen, an opera that was never performed. Wagner is most know for Ride of the Valkryies, Bridal Chorus, and Lohengrin. Wagner was Hitler's favorive composer. Richard Wagner was one of the greatest forces in 19th century cultural history.
