Greg Smith and the Kelsey Smith Foundation
About Greg Smith
A Kansas state senator representing District 21, Greg Smith has a long history as both a law enforcement officer and public school teacher. He also served 10 years as a sailor with the United States Navy. Mr. Smith first sought election to public office after the tragic loss of his daughter Kelsey. In 2007, Kelsey was kidnapped, sexually assaulted, and ultimately murdered by a complete stranger. As a public servant, Greg Smith has devoted a great deal of his professional energy toward the implementation of polices that aid in the investigation and prevention of violent crime and aggravated felonies of this nature.
Mr. Smith simultaneously serves as president of the Kelsey Smith Foundation. Otherwise known as Kelsey’s Army, this organization is committed to honoring and perpetuating the life of Kelsey Smith by providing a range of educational resources and advocacy programs for the general public. The Foundation’s continuing efforts have been recognized by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the CUE Center for Missing Persons, and the Network of Victim’s Assistance.
