Day 5 (Tuesday 5/6)
Voyage to the South: The Good, The Bad, and The Mosquitos
"The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes"
Let me start by giving you this once sentence of advice: never listen to the guys. Today started out serene as we've all come to expect. Breakfast by the beach, in the waves by 9:30, soaking up sun the rest of the day. Well, when the guys cut our beach time short only to tell us "Get ready, we're going for a hike!" with about as much excitement as a kid on Christmas, we decided to give them this one day, and try to be optimistic about it. An hour later, lost in the bug infested forest trail, baking in the heat, maybe that wasn't such a good idea. After walking for what felt like forever, covered in welts from mosquito bites, and a crimson color overcoming our tan skin, we finally found our parking lot! Only, it wasn't our parking lot. Just a parking lot. Another side effect of listening to the guys. Getting lost. Another hour later we actually find OUR parking lot. The ride home is silent and muggy. I'm not quite sure what chain of events occurred when we returned to our beach house, because tired, moody, and sunburnt me took a long peaceful nap. All I know is next time the guys say "Let's-" the answer will be no.
Even though today wasn't the greatest, we made memories with great people, and I wouldn't trade it for anything. The sunburn, maybe, but the experience? Not in a million years.
