Registered Nurses (RNs) work to promote good health and prevent illness. They use considerable judgment in providing a wide variety of patient-care services. Registered nurses observe and record the conditions of patients, and administer medications under the direction of a physician.


Registered nurse in one of three ways. You can take a 2-year nursing program in a community college that will lead to an associate degree. You can enroll in a diploma program offered by a hospital or independent school of nursing. Diploma programs generally take 3 years to complete. You can also enroll in a college program that leads to a bachelor of science degree. College programs usually take 4 or 5 years to complete. They combine liberal arts courses with scientific and technical training. All programs include practical experience
