Navin M Raheja- Wildlife Enthusiast

Navin M Raheja, President, NAREDCO and CMD, Raheja Developers Limited, in an exclusive interview talks his heart out about his first love—wildlife

“I would say that in my life and in my growth, wildlife has been a very important aspect. This actually gives me a new lease of life; I feel rejuvenated after having a look at new bird species in their natural habitat and I am totally new person once again. The love for the forest and wildlife started with my father, he used to take us to safari parks, zoos, sanctuaries as there were no national parks, then. He was also very fond of all these things. He would particularly take us to circuses as they used to have animals around that time. I just take it as a passion and don’t really use any bit of learning for my business. But, yes I feel that the love for humanity comes out, as I look at these animals as sharing the same platform that we are using. I distinguish myself with them, of being that close and having a better IQ. Beyond that we all are same. For example, a tiger lives in its territory and comes across hundreds of herbivores, which can be killed in one day, but it will kill only one and eat it for seven days, even if the meat is rotten. I too follow that principle and don’t believe in wastage of any kind, be it business or my personal life. Wildlife photography has helped me a lot and it has kept me alive and mobile. While following a tiger or any predator, you have to walk on different terrains and at times. I have had to walk continuously for 10-12 hours stalking a particular animal, which gives one a lot of strength and stamina. This has helped me keep fit to adapt to any terrain that I travel to.” Says Navin M Raheja.
