William Shakespeare

1564-1616
Stratford-upon-Avon, United Kingdom

William Shakespeare was raised in Europe, born to John and Mary Shakespeare. Little is known about his early life, but it is predicted he attended King Edward VI Grammar School in Stratford-upon-Avon. Only at age 18, he married Anne Hathaway and had three children named Susanna, Hamnet, and Judith.

William Shakespeare was most famous for writing plays. Most of his plays were a remarkable success. In 1952, many of Shakespeare's plays were presented on stage in London. Shakespeare was also greatly known as an actor, and he pursued this career around the age of 28 in London along with writing plays.

Blow, blow, thou winter wind

Blow, blow, thou winter wind

Thou art not so unkind
As man's ingratitude;
Thy tooth is not so keen,
Because thou art not seen,
Although thy breath be rude.

Heigh-ho! sing, heigh-ho! unto the green holly:
Most freindship if feigning, most loving mere folly:
Then heigh-ho, the holly!
This life is most jolly.

Freeze, freeze thou bitter sky,
That does not bite so nigh
As benefits forgot:
Though thou the waters warp,
Thy sting is not so sharp
As a friend remembered not.
Heigh-ho! sing, heigh-ho! unto the green holly:
Most friendship is feigning, most loving mere folly:
Then heigh-ho, the holly!
This life is most jolly.
