Calcium is the fifth most abundant element found in the Earth's crust.  Calcium is most commonly used to give your bones structure and strength, which is a necessity for living.  The best way to increase the intake of calcium into your body is through the consumption of dairy products such as milk and yogurt. English scientist, Humphry Davy, was the first person to discover Calcium in 1808 by mixing two elements together and experimenting on the enzymes they produced. Facts:

-Not found in nature, can be purified into a soft metal

-Makes up 3% of oceans and soil

-Essential to animal and plant nutrition

-Consuming too much calcium carbonate can cause milk-alkali syndrome (an imbalance in body's acid)
