Rome is growing!  You will discover the key events and map out Rome's progress.   Along the way you will notice that there are a variety of positive and negative effects that occur when Rome expands.  It is your job to investigate the consequences...both good and bad.  Good luck!

Step 1:  Rome's Conquest of the Italian Peninsula, 509 to 264 BCE

Read pages 326 and 327 of your textbook.  

Label your map and complete your graphic organizer for the First Period of Expansion of the Roman Empire.  

Step 2:  Overseas Expansion During the Punic Wars, 264 BCE to 146 BCE

Read pages 328 and 329 of your textbook.  

Label your map and complete your graphic organizer for the Second Period of Expansion of the Roman Empire.  

Step 3:  Expansion During the Final Years of the Republic, 145 BCE to 44 BCE

Read pages 330-331 of your textbook.

Label your map and complete your graphic organizer for the Third Period of Expansion of the Roman Empire.

Read pages 332-333 in your textbook.

Label your map and complete your graphic organizer for the Fourth Period of Expansion of the Roman Empire.

Step 4:  Rome Becomes and Empire           44 BCE to 14 CE
