Surgery is a medical specialty in which they use operative and instrumental techniques on a patient to investigate and/or treat a condition such as dieases or injury , to help improve bodily function or appearance or to repair unwanted ruptured areas. Pediatric surgery is just like normal surgery but they specialize in children and infants.
what are the names of the different types of pediatrics surgeons ?
There are 7 main types ; neonatology which focuses on the new born infants. geneticist which they specialize training in both pediatrics and genetics. Development- behavioral which they are trained to determine if a child has any learning, developmental, or behavioral problems. Pulmonology which diagnose and treat problems with a child’s breathing or lungs. Neurology which work mainly in the special care nurseries or newborn intensive care units of hospitals. Oncology specialize in treating any blood disease or cancer that a child or teenager may have, such as leukemia, brain or bone tumors, and diseases of the blood cells. General surgeons help to improve the health of children through surgery in clinical practice, medical education, and research.
what happens during surgery ?
If your child has an illness, injury, or disease that requires surgery, a pediatric surgeon can or will do surgery on your children. Surgical problems seen by pediatric surgeons are often quite different from those commonly seen by adult or general surgeons since kids and infants are very different from an adult. Special training in pediatric surgery is important. Children are not just small adults they have different bodies and they work different. They cannot always say what is bothering them or where they are hurting. They cannot always answer medical questions, and are not always able to be patient and helpful during a medical examination. Pediatric surgeons know how to examine and treat children in a way that makes them relaxed and cooperative.
